An IDF reservist soldier was severely wounded during operational activity in the area of the Lebanese border on Saturday, the IDF announced.
The soldier was evacuated to a hospital to receive medical treatment, and his family has been notified.
The soldier was wounded while crossing a minefield, according to Army Radio.
In February, the IDF withdrew most of its forces from southern Lebanon, but erected and maintained five new outposts in Lebanese territory a few hundred meters from the border. The Jerusalem Post embedded with Israeli forces at the beginning of this month to see the new positions inside the country.
Recent tensions at the Israel-Lebanon border
The Saturday report of the wounded soldier comes a few days after an Israeli air force (IAF) jet crashed into Lebanon due to a technical malfunction. The day before, the IAF struck a weapons storage facility belonging to the Hezbollah terrorist organization from their Aerial Defense Unit. That strike came after the IDF targeted Hezbollah terrorists operating in an engineering vehicle last Sunday in southern Lebanon.
Late last month, the IDF also struck dozens of rocket launchers and a command center belonging to the terrorist organization, which came after Israel intercepted rockets that fired from across the border. Hezbollah denied responsibility for the rockets fired.
