ווסטהאם השיגה היום (שבת) ניצחון 0:2 על קריסטל פאלאס בחוץ, כאשר באירוע שמשך את רוב תשומת הלב בממלכה עמד דווקא נער הכדורים.
לאחר השער השני שנכבש על ידי ג`ארוד בואן, אוהדי הפטישים פצחו בחגיגות מוגזמות מדי, קרסו על שלטי הפרסומות האלקטרוניים ומחצו את הילד הצעיר ששימש כמביא כדורים בסלהרסט פארק.
שחקנה של ווסטהאם תומאש סוצ`ק מיד עזר לחלץ את הילד המבוהל שכמובן בכה מרוב לחץ – ואז חיבק את בואן. "פגשתי את הילד הזה לאחר המשחק", סיפר בואן, "נתתי לו את החולצה שלי, הוא מחייך והכל בסדר איתו". ברשת הגיבו: "כל הכבוד לסוצ`ק ובואן על העירנות והתגובה האנושית. זה יכול היה להיגמר באסון".
